I Can Hardly Believe It

Hello...

I don't have any news about work. Sadly I have something much more distressing to tell you about. Mr. Peterson from the O.S.I.R. showed up at my house yesterday. He had an entire crew of scientists wanting to examine the house. He didn't give me any warning ahead of time. They didn't seem to care if I was home either judging by the amount of equipment. I mean who shows up with a bunch of technology and cases of who knows what and then walks away without using it? The answer is no one.

I told Mr. Peterson I wasn't interested in having people in my house while I was gone. I reminded him of what happened to the last people to do that. I didn't want to stick around. I was arguing with Mr. Peterson and alternately yelling at one of his techs as he climbed the front step when Ms. Jayne showed up. One of Peterson's men tried to get in her way when it appeared she wasn't just a passer-by. I told him to leave her alone. The plastic chair on the porch that I hadn't taken into the house from the summer slid out from its corner and toppled down the steps.

I felt someone behind me. He let out a yelp as I saw fear fill Ms. Jayne's face. I turned and saw another one scramble for a needle lying on the sidewalk. I looked toward Peterson as two of them made to go for Ms. Jayne, one of them holding a needle. I shouted a warning. She turned and slapped the needle from his hand. Then they had us, holding our arms. Ms. Jayne shouted for me to help as she struggled against them. I couldn't break away. The porch chair flew past, barely missing Peterson. Then Ms. Jayne yelled something I'll never forget. "There is no ghost. It's you, Josh. It has always been you."

I heard the sound of one of my captors being slapped. It didn't seem to give him much pause. Ms. Jayne was shouting, "You have to focus and direct the power. Now, Josh! If they take us away we'll never be seen again!"

I knocked the two men holding me over backward and went crashing down to the sidewalk with them. The men holding Ms. Jayne toppled away from her, but one of them had a better grip and dragged her down on top of him. I sat up as the one that fell away from Ms. Jayne tried to get up. I focused on him and he was picked up and shaken back and forth violently.

Peterson loomed into my vision holding the one dropped syringe. Without getting up the two men flanking me grabbed me again, but not for long. Mr. Peterson shook where he stood, and his eyes bulged. One of his eyes pushed almost out of its socket and his upper eyelid became stuck behind it. Ms. Jayne was shouting, "Stop it Josh! No one deserves that!"

The men got out of there pretty quick after that, two of them dragging Peterson away. They left all of their equipment out on the street. I bent over to pick up one of the needles. Ms. Jayne stopped me. We got out of there too. I'm posting this from an Internet café. By time anyone can read this we'll be long gone. I'll get back to you next week, I promise.

Exit Interview Accelerant

Hello...

I was fired from my job this week. As if that wasn't humiliating enough the ghost had to get in on the action. I was in the boss' office going through the motions of the exit interview, the crap they feel is your payment for, I don't know, being graced by their presence for so many years. The boss was moving around the office while I stood in place. He was never big on sitting, preferring to be on the move constantly, like that was more productive. He was saying, "...I don't believe it was all your fault..." when one of the filing cabinets slid out away from the others. He turned toward the scraping of metal just in time to see me reaching for the cabinet.

The cabinet spun around ninety-degrees and the drawers flew open with the motion, spewing the files everywhere. The cabinet crashed to the floor, hard, almost smashing the boss' left foot with one of the open drawers. He said, "Maybe that incident throwing the mug at the customer wasn't an isolated incident. Maybe you've been sabotaging the company."

I tried to protest but then he brought up, "The destroyed equipment, rearranging things after hours, the unlocked doors that maintenance keeps finding... What else have you been doing in your crusade to ruins us?"

Then came the worst when he concluded, "Get out, I changed my mind about references and seeing where things could have gone differently. Get out! Go now before I call the cops!' Then his voice lowered, "I don't ever want to see you again for anything, or hear that you had anybody call here for anything."

I left immediately. That was Tuesday. I still don't know what to do. This has to be the worst time of the year to try and get a new job. The college students will be snapping everything up if they aren't already attached to a position. It will take time to get real work like my last job. So what do I do in the meantime? What a nightmare.

Questions, Comfort, and Foreboding

Hello,

There was some kind of issue with the tags on my blog last week. I had my friend Ned dig into the guts of the site to try to find out what it was. He couldn't. I ended up emailing tech support and they sorted it out as you can see if you scroll down. They didn't tell me what the problem was. I guess it doesn't matter as long as it stays fixed.

Myron's assistant Jane returned early this week. Turns out her name is Ms. Jayne. I already blew her anonymity so I'll keep to Ms. Jayne here, even though she told me her first name. She came to run through a questionnaire. The questions are not what you might normally call intimate, but yet they sort of are. I thought it might be tense, even with all I've shared with complete strangers through these investigations, and perhaps especially in this case talking to such a beautiful woman, alone in my house. However, Ms. Jayne was very kind and patient. I'd even go so far as to say that she maybe even made it easier. She was easy to talk to and knew what to ask to follow up on what Myron needed the questions to answer.

On a less pleasant note I think I should start seriously looking for a new job. This week was abysmal and the tension was really high. I could hardly keep anything in one place on my desk. I tried to keep people away from it. Based on talking with Myron and Ms. Jayne I also kept a tight lid on my emotions and tried as hard as I could to keep positive. I was a little more lax at home to start with and there was a lot of activity. One particularly bad night the dish drainer full of dishes hurtled across the kitchen and broke all of the plates. This is the first time anything has been purposefully broken. It certain scared me really bad. I called Myron but he was out. I talked to Ms. Jayne and she came over right away. The ghost quieted down significantly while she was here and it didn't escalate much when she went home quite a while later. I saw that she wasn't as unnerved by the objects sliding around on their own or changing positions as the WPIS people were the first time they witnessed the really blatant disturbances. She's a very impressive woman.

A Feeling of Progress

Hello,

I had my meeting that Tim was going to set up for me. It turned out it was with the man in the memorable blue suit. He wasn't wearing the suit this time. Instead he was wearing just a grey suit. It was a nice suit, don't get me wrong, but it didn't stand out like that almost shimmery one. He also wasn't alone. His name is Myron Nath. His assistant he called Jane accompanied him. She was breathtaking. She had long black hair that just shone, and the most striking green eyes I have ever seen. I could hardly pull my eyes away from hers. I have the oddest sensation still that I had seen her before, but if I had, how could I have forgotten? She was... well, I guess that's beside the point. Let me get back on track.

Myron, he insisted I call him that, was really warm and friendly. We talked for a good few minutes before getting to the point. like we'd known each other for some time. It didn't feel odd or like a tactic. He's just a really likable guy. Wish we'd met under better circumstances. Jane didn't say much up to this point, but she didn't look bored or disengaged and I kept my eyes from wandering, especially with that beautiful, strawberry sweater she was wearing. I told Myron everything that Mr. Peterson told me, including that harrowing tale of that other haunting that I told you last week. I told him about the emotional weather part and then I let him talk.

Myron confirmed everything that Mr. Peterson said. He was aware of the case and agreed with the assessment. He said that such entities are like psychic sponges that draw power from the people they come into contact with and the environment that they are in. Many of them are attracted to negative emotion, and by their very nature perpetuate it. In the worst cases they actively try to make things worse. Those ones are the most aware of what is happening around them and how best to escalate an already bad situation. Based on what he knew about my haunting from Tim and this blog Myron hazarded an initial guess that I do not have such an entity. Everything with me sounds reactionary and inadvertent. There are a few indications of a little more intelligence, such as the burglar. One question he didn't have an answer for was where did I first catch the attention of this thing, let alone where it came from in the first place. Myron said he'd help try and deal with it. I hope that he can.
