The Sadness of Justice

Grant Sekibo's murderer has been brought to justice but it is a hollow victory if it is a victory at all. The man responsible is not among the gifted and had no idea we existed. Certainly he had never heard of me or this blog. I can't expect everyone is aware, or even puts any stock in the possibility that we exist. That is a part of the process. In any event, this man went after and killed Grant because the O.S.I.R., with Grant leading the charge, abducted his wife and executed her in their car. The man had the unfortunate luck to see who took her. He went after Grant knowing nothing other than some group of well dressed men stole his wife from him forever. I can't imagine the suffering this caused him. When I discovered what had happened I made arrangements.

I got ahold of Mr. Peterson back in Wisconsin and got the killer safely into his hands. Mr. Peterson then took the killer into normal police custody where hopefully he will be treated as a normal criminal. Mr. Peterson could not guarantee that the O.S.I.R. would sit idly by, but he thought they might, given that the man is no threat to them, with no psychic gifts and still no knowledge of who the O.S.I.R. is or even their name. Sadly I could not tell the man why his wife had to die. I don't know what cover story will be used to justify or merely explain her murder.

That leads me to something that I have not discussed with you all before. What does the O.S.I.R. do with the psychics that it murders away from prying eyes? These are as opposed to the ones shot on sight, usually with a cover story of criminal activity. A lot of the time the O.S.I.R. simply dispose of the bodies and the person is listed as missing, just another person never to be seen again. When they have to though, the O.S.I.R. makes the psychic appear to have been a victim of a random unsolved crime. I've been told that they hang onto the bodies for a while in case they are needed for a cover up, and sometimes for a body swap so they can spirit someone else away and leave an unidentifiable or falsely identifiable body behind. It's rather grim business even for those who are judge, jury, and executioner.

Change of Hands

No one has come forward to claim responsibility for the slaughter of Grant Sekibo of the O.S.I.R. To the best of my knowledge no one has caught the murderer either. If you are out there reading this you've had your chance. Now I am going to hunt you down. No more warnings, and no excuses.

I have learned that Grant's second in command, Tommy Dearing, is now in charge of his squad. Mr. Dearing, if you are reading this I ask you to consider the same deal I gave Grant, even given how dirty and one-side it is toward me. Come after me and I will keep you occupied for months. Leave me alone and I will learn all of your secrets and those of the O.S.I.R. The choice is yours. Just remember I won't kill you, I won't let anyone in my team harm you. You'll have to live with your failures and weakness. Or maybe you can learn a better way. I can show you how to protect people, how to make peace with as many of us as you can. We're not all monsters. We're just like you, human. Treat us that way, and deal with only the real monsters in the way that you have been dealing with all of us.

I can't endorse executions, but I also can't deny that, more often than any of us would like, something that is essentially inhumane must be done to those who use their gifts for nefarious purposes. Even if it is blocking their gifts somehow or altering their personalities, that's still awful and undesirable, but the normal authorities don't even have those choices unless they accept our help in self-policing--under their control, to put them at ease. I don't know. I can only offer my own view. It's a bad situation all around, which was why I joined the Protectorate. There I can at least help as best as we can help.

Not The Way to Go

I regret to inform you that O.S.I.R. agent Grant Sekibo has been killed! This wasn't self-defense. It was a cold-blooded murder. I want to know who did it! If Grant's murderer comes forward I'll do my best to guarantee your safety. If I have to come after you, you'll wish that the O.S.I.R. caught you. I'm serious. Of all the stupid, idiotic, and dangerous things to do. You've ruined the plans I posted about--a way to learn everything we could about O.S.I.R. protocols from one of its most dangerous agents, and to determine weaknesses and openings to use to thwart them. Not only that, but you've stirred up the hornets nest and all of us will suffer for it.

I hope that the murderer is not someone who reads this blog. I'd hope you'd have learned better from me. Nothing makes anyone more determined to see something through than the death of a comrade. When you already hate someone for no reason, and then you're given an exceptionally good reason, you jump on it, hard. We had a target on our back. We were taken away to be humanely disposed of. Now what do you think will happen? You can't imagine the suffering we will be caused, unless you know your history. Even recent history shows us what happens when you push past annoying the bear into pissing it right off.

This is a perfect example of why we have to police ourselves. Come forward and let the Protectorate handle this mess. Whatever you do, do not make matters worse.

Talk About Missions

I apologize for missing last week's post, but it could not be helped. I was away with my team on a mission. I hope no one was too worried about me. People who can contact me directly got a message explaining my absence.

Sadly I cannot tell you about the mission. I'm sure that will lead to rumours and some suspicion, but when missions deal with unclear situations I'll have to keep silent. Let me explain. Let's say there's a gifted man named George. George has been accused of doing despicable things with his gifts. If I release George's name and then it turns out the accusations are false then I have ruined George's life. We see it all the time with people and news networks.

The other reason to keep quiet about the mission is if it is about something internal to the Protectorate. Some people think total transparency is the only way to handle things but the one time that is false is when that transparency helps people get away with things because they can see people coming after them, while they're busy being non-transparent. Just something to think about until next week.
