Blame and Fears of Fuelling

Hello,

I talked to Karen at least once this week, on the phone, briefly. She said now that I was gone that so were the moving objects and getting groped. It doesn't look like there will be any way to fix what I've done. I have no one to blame but myself. I suppose I could blame those government agents, but they were only doing their job, and how could they know I was hiding it from her. She had attracted her own attention over the haunting apparently. It was for a lack of blame that I didn't contact them.

However, that didn't stop the man in the dark suit with the sunglasses from catching up with me in front of the house on Wednesday night. I told him about what happened, and couldn't help getting a little angry. He didn't seem to take it personally. I noticed that he didn't apologize either, but I wasn't fishing for one anyway. His name is Mr. Peterson, since I don't think I mentioned it last time.

While we were talking, sometime after I had calmed down some, Mr. Peterson confided in me that I was better off without Karen. He quickly added at least I was until the haunting was over. He told me about a case in Nevada in 2005. I'll get to that in a bit. Mr. Peterson said that in the case it was the husband's guilt over matters, and his anger at the situation and the tension it created with his wife that fuelled the haunting. It was his negative emotions that made it turn as bad as it did. On Thursday I talked to Tim about the idea that I was making it happen. I used Mr. Peterson's metaphor that it was like the weather where a low pressure and high pressure get together and storms happen. Tim said that "he couldn't speak to that," but he could put me in touch with someone. I'll do that this week.

Since it's Halloween on Monday I'll tell you the story Mr. Peterson told me. A recently married couple and their newborn moved into a new house in Nevada. At first everything seemed great in their dream home. They did notice odd sounds. The husband thought it was noisy water pipes at first, but it became apparent that the knocking sounds could happen any time. The wife complained about finding items in odd places. Like me it reached a point where both of them would find something had moved while they were distracted and no one else was around to do it. The two of them fought a lot over the haunting. The wife desperately wanted out of the house and the husband refused. Even then they couldn't be gambling like that, and they had invested everything they had in buying the house.

It all came to a head one night when they were woken up around 3 a.m. the bed shook violently and there was loud banging on the walls around the room. They both ran out of the bedroom door and down the hall. They tried to turn on a light but none of the switches worked. Starting at the stairs and all over the main floor they found wiring pulled down through the ceiling and twisted into weird almost spider web-like shapes with tunnels. Parts of the wires were stripped and they reached down to the furniture and the floor. The air was thick with smells. It turns out it was kerosene from camping gear and lighter fluid from the barbecue set. It was poured all over. So was charcoal from the barbecue. As they neared the door the lights all came on at once. The two of them barely got out before the house went up.

I sure hope it never gets that bad here. I likely won't, right? If it does I'm sunk since it's not the house, but me instead. I hope you all have a good Halloween. I'm going to try.
