I Can Hardly Believe It

Hello...

I don't have any news about work. Sadly I have something much more distressing to tell you about. Mr. Peterson from the O.S.I.R. showed up at my house yesterday. He had an entire crew of scientists wanting to examine the house. He didn't give me any warning ahead of time. They didn't seem to care if I was home either judging by the amount of equipment. I mean who shows up with a bunch of technology and cases of who knows what and then walks away without using it? The answer is no one.

I told Mr. Peterson I wasn't interested in having people in my house while I was gone. I reminded him of what happened to the last people to do that. I didn't want to stick around. I was arguing with Mr. Peterson and alternately yelling at one of his techs as he climbed the front step when Ms. Jayne showed up. One of Peterson's men tried to get in her way when it appeared she wasn't just a passer-by. I told him to leave her alone. The plastic chair on the porch that I hadn't taken into the house from the summer slid out from its corner and toppled down the steps.

I felt someone behind me. He let out a yelp as I saw fear fill Ms. Jayne's face. I turned and saw another one scramble for a needle lying on the sidewalk. I looked toward Peterson as two of them made to go for Ms. Jayne, one of them holding a needle. I shouted a warning. She turned and slapped the needle from his hand. Then they had us, holding our arms. Ms. Jayne shouted for me to help as she struggled against them. I couldn't break away. The porch chair flew past, barely missing Peterson. Then Ms. Jayne yelled something I'll never forget. "There is no ghost. It's you, Josh. It has always been you."

I heard the sound of one of my captors being slapped. It didn't seem to give him much pause. Ms. Jayne was shouting, "You have to focus and direct the power. Now, Josh! If they take us away we'll never be seen again!"

I knocked the two men holding me over backward and went crashing down to the sidewalk with them. The men holding Ms. Jayne toppled away from her, but one of them had a better grip and dragged her down on top of him. I sat up as the one that fell away from Ms. Jayne tried to get up. I focused on him and he was picked up and shaken back and forth violently.

Peterson loomed into my vision holding the one dropped syringe. Without getting up the two men flanking me grabbed me again, but not for long. Mr. Peterson shook where he stood, and his eyes bulged. One of his eyes pushed almost out of its socket and his upper eyelid became stuck behind it. Ms. Jayne was shouting, "Stop it Josh! No one deserves that!"

The men got out of there pretty quick after that, two of them dragging Peterson away. They left all of their equipment out on the street. I bent over to pick up one of the needles. Ms. Jayne stopped me. We got out of there too. I'm posting this from an Internet café. By time anyone can read this we'll be long gone. I'll get back to you next week, I promise.
